My story begins with my mother. She was, of course, my first teacher. She practiced (and still does) Transcendental Meditation, twice daily. Influenced by the Himalayan yoga tradition and Ayurveda, her quiet rituals of reckoning shaped the landscape I grew up in.
In 1997, I willingly took my first yoga class with a Kripalu VHS tape in my living room, by Megha. My mother and I had just returned from Kripalu Center in Lenox, MA. I was in my early twenties, becoming more aware of the path I was on and questioning it. I was developing a new relationship to Self, transitioning to adulthood and corporate hustle.
Yoga became a steady anchor, instigator and residue in my life. It reflected back enough contrast, that I left my corporate job and 401k, to share yoga and build community. It provoked a curiosity and uncertainty in me that continues to fuel my studentship. I had the great privilege to study yoga, meditation, therapeutics, and yogic philosophy during the intimate, early and golden days of Anusara Yoga.
For over 20 years, I have led group classes, workshops, private instruction, and have organized over 25 yoga workshops with celebrated teachers such as John Friend, Desiree Rumbaugh, Christina Sell, and more. I continue to study with the paradigm shifters in movement and foster community.
I am a curious, keen, embodied mover. I am an activator and an influencer. I love to witness communal joy and healing. I am certified in Anusara Yoga and deeply inspired by Bowspring, tensegrity, and the fascial landscape of the body. I am known for cultivating a welcoming, supportive, and engaging environment. Infused with tales from everyday life, I weave precise physical instruction and practical application of yoga philosophy into my classes. While my path has collided with some extraordinary teachers, and placed many obstacles and sacred temples before me, my children continue to teach me the most.
